Dance Theatre Minimi open call for productions 2021 | deadline March 15th 2020

The open call is targeted at professional freelancers in the field of performing arts.

Dance Theatre Minimi is a professional dance theatre and a multifaceted performing arts organization based in Kuopio, Finland. Its home venue is Maria-stage at Kuopio City Theatre. All productions are made also for touring and nearly half of the annual performances take place outside of the home venue.

Minimi aims to develop accessibility and mobility of dance performances. In addition, the open call suggests more collaboration with freelance-based makers and organizations. At the moment Minimi is interested in co-productions and collaborations both nationally and internationally with the notion of utilizing a wide range of means in performing arts.

Dance Theatre Minimi has an open call for productions for the year 2021. Open call is targeted at professional freelancers in the field of performing arts. Deadline for applications is 15th of March 2020.

Applications from the fields of dance, theatre, circus, performance and other bodily performing arts are welcome. Articulating your application/project proposal in relation to dance performance and choreographic stage is recommended. Projects can be designed for stage, studio, foyer and alternative site-specific spaces.

Applications are handled with two separate approaches. Firstly applications are read anonymously based only on the project proposals. After that proposals are considered as a whole and in relation to Dance Theatre Minimi’s annual program and resources for the year 2021. Decisions will be made during April 2020.

Include the following to your application:

Project Proposal:

Describe your project proposal and how it relates to the world and spectators. Articulate any specific technical requirements and the ideal space or setting for your proposal. Also suggest a suitable timeline.

Plan for Budget and Funding:

Evaluate an estimated budget for your proposal and a suggestion for Minimi’s financial input.

(Keep in mind that Minimi wishes to aim financial support especially for fees and salaries.)

Inform if your project is negotiating or has received other support for its production, such as grants, collaborators, co-producers, residencies or sponsors.

Introduce Your Working Group:

Open form – for example bios, cv’s, portfolios and links to previous works.
