Sentient Performativities: Thinking alongside the Human
The 2022 art.earth symposium investigates somatic practices and how they can foster embodied ecological awareness and communication between the human and other than human worlds. Sentient Performativities: Thinking Alongside The Human will revisit our entanglement with the natural world from a felt perspective and bring together multiple fields of thought, practice and research that share embodied approaches to bridge the human, plant and animal divide. As with all art.earth symposia, we invite a broad spectrum of practitioners, fields and disciplines to explore common interests and diverse practices.
We want to hear from you if you are a somatic practitioner, if you work in the field of embodied cognition, if you are a dancer, choreographer or somatic performer who creates work in outdoor environments, if you are an activist who works with performance as direct action, if you are working as gardener with plants or as farmer with animals, if you are an ecologist or cognitive scientist, if you are an educator who works with students on climate awareness, if you are an academic researcher or scientist, if you are working within the fields of reconnecting people to nature, if you are working with somatics in dance, therapy or within health settings, if you work within crafts with diverse materials, whether you are an artist, a scientist, a culture practitioner or come from other disciplines that engage in eco-somatic relationship building with ourselves and with the more than human world we invite you to this conversation.
