For the BIELEFELDER STUDIO (2021/2022 season starting on 16.08.2021), the Bühnen und Orchester der Stadt Bielefeld are looking for a contemporary dancer.

Where: Theater Bielefeld, Bielefeld, Germany

When: 2021/2022 season starting on 16.08.2021

Deadline for applications: 20.04.2021

Daring artistic experiments and innovative formats in parallel with the classical repertoire of a city theatre are what distinguish the Bühnen und Orchester der Stadt Bielefeld. They present singing, dance, acting, concerts and the education and participatory programme jungplusX on eight stages in three buildings. The Stadttheater, the Theater am Alten Markt and the Konzerthaus Rudolf-Oetker-Halle have a combined seating capacity for some 3,200 visitors. This makes Bielefeld’s principal cultural institution one of the largest in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The new BIELEFELDER STUDIO was founded at the start of the 2019/20 season. With the aim of overcoming traditional professional boundaries and questioning conventional artistic profiles, three artists per season will each be given the opportunity for further development by expanding their training beyond their own specific discipline in a unique cross-disciplinary year.

For the second year of the BIELEFELDER STUDIO we are looking for a contemporary dancer.

-State-recognised qualification (degree or diploma) in dance
-Excellent contemporary technique, especially in floor work and partnering, and good classical technique
-High level of interest in both the other artistic disciplines (theatre and opera)
-Willingness to train further in several disciplines and in cross-disciplinary contexts and to take part in productions and projects
-Previous knowledge of and initial experiences in at least one of the other two artistic disciplines
-The qualification specified above should not have been received more than three years ago at the time of application
-We regard ourselves as an international theatre and communicate predominantly in German. A good knowledge of the German language is therefore essential.

We offer:

-The opportunity to expand training in a specific discipline with knowledge of and skills in other disciplines and cross-disciplinary work (one year’s further training)
-Involvement in the rehearsal and performance process of several disciplines and cross-disciplinary projects
-Integration into the entire theatre operation, working together closely with ensembles and teams
-Workshops and coaching in singing, dance and acting as well as other practical aspects of the profession
-Scope to develop further personally and artistically
-Mentoring programme
-One year contract (fixed term) in line with the provisions of the NV Bühne SR Solo

The casting / familiarisation session (with singing / dancing / acting auditions) will be held for selected candidates in Bielefeld on Monday, 10 May 2021. Only those applicants invited in writing may attend.

The BIELEFELDER STUDIO is funded through the NEUE WEGE programme of the NRW KULTURsekretariat Wuppertal and by the Ministry for Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The city of Bielefeld actively supports equal opportunities and diversity. We therefore welcome applications from people irrespective of their cultural and social background, age, religion, world view, disabilities, sexual orientation and gender identity.
