To AI or Not to AI? A critical approach. (Online-Workshop)

  • von

Ein weiterführender Workshop im Rahmen von Hands-On KI.

We are living through an “AI-fication” moment, where everything seems to require artificial intelligence, everywhere, all the time. This has created a manufactured and overwhelming sense of urgency across sectors, including art and culture, along with the impression that AI is unavoidable and unquestionable.

This 3-hour hands-on workshop provides space to pause and reflect: How does AI really work? Who holds power behind these tools? What drives their development, and what are their limitations and impacts? What does this mean for artists, cultural activists, and everyone in the sector? And what can we do about it?

Participants will gain critical knowledge, practical skills, and strategies to navigate the AI-driven landscape and reflect on their own projects and initiatives.

In this workshop, we will:

  1. Lay the Groundwork: Examine AI critically beyond the common places: how it works, its limits, and the power structures shaping it. Explore AI narratives and their influence on public perception, the art world, and cultural activism.
  2. Understand the Terrain: Identify challenges for the art and cultural sector. Through hands-on exercises and case studies, learn to navigate AI confidently and critically.
  3. Scan the Horizon: Explore key questions of if, what, when, how, and why to use AI. Discover creative projects that critically explore AI’s uses, impacts, and debates, fostering creative approaches to this evolving landscape.

When: Wednesday, March 11th 2026, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, online
