Discounts
IGFT members receive reduced admission to over 80 Austrian theatres and festivals upon presentation of their current membership card. A list of venues can be found here.
Events and Workshops
IGFT offers weekly (online) events and workshops for information on various topics or for networking. All upcoming IGFT events can be found in the calendar.

Rehearsal room platform
The rehearsal studio platform has replaced the previous rehearsal room list and is available at https://proberaum.freietheater.at/. Rehearsal studios can be offered and found there free of charge.
theaterspielplan.at
The platform theaterspielplan.at functions as an online event calendar and archive for the independent performing arts in Austria and can be used free of charge.
zirkusinfo.at
zirkusinfo.at is a freely accessible online platform provided by IG Freie Theaterarbeit with the following aims:
- To achieve greater visibility of the Austrian circus sector
- To improve the networking of individual actors
- The collecting information material
- The long-term statistical survey of the sector
gift – magazine for independent theatre, dance and performance
gift – zeitschrift für freie theaterarbeit, tanz und performance is dedicated to current discourses in the performing arts, cultural-political topics and debates and reports on events, festivals (not only) in the independent theatre sector as well as on internal news of the IG Freie Theaterarbeit and also sees itself as an open discussion forum for theatre, dance, circus and street theatre professionals.
The magazine is published four times a year and is included in the IGFT membership. Further information, subscription and individual prices as well as online versions can be found here.
Newsletter
The e-mail newsletter is published weekly on Thursdays (and on the next working day in the case of public holidays) and provides information on IGFT news, cultural policy, current calls for applications, job offers, workshops, festivals and events in the performing arts scene.

IG Net
The IG Netz was set up in 1991 by the IG Freie Theaterarbeit to make it financially easier for independent groups in the performing arts to pay their social security contributions through grants. An application for a grant from the IG Netz is not linked to a membership of the IGFT. All information on the IG Netz here.
ACT OUT Tour and Residency Funding
With ACT OUT, the tour and residency funding programme for independent theatre and performance artists, the BMEIA – Auslandskultur in cooperation with the IG Freie Theaterarbeit offers a funding programme for independent performing artists and theatre groups, which supports tour and work (i.e. residency) opportunities abroad.
Data collection
IG Freie Theaterarbeit, as a democratically legitimised interest group of the independent performing scene in Austria, has set itself the goal of collecting data on the sector and formulating necessary demands from the results. These will be forwarded to cultural politicians and funding bodies and to the actors concerned. You can find an overview of our survey results here.
Library
In the office of IG Freie Theaterarbeit there is a small specialised library on theatre, dance, performance as well as cultural-political topics.
The library can be used by appointment during office hours (Mon-Thurs 9:30-16). Due to Covid-19, the use of the library is currently limited.
